Games and activities to make your life fun and creative

Want games and activities to add fun and creativity to your life? From casino to sport, there’s so much choice!

Sometimes as we get older, we get stuck in a rut. As children, we’re forever seeking fun and we’re often able to create our own games and activities as we go. As adults, though, we seem to forget this ability and often need a little reminder that we should include fun in our lives. If you’re stuck for ideas, don’t despair – we’ve got plenty to share. Whether it’s free, cheap, or real adventure activities you’re seeking, we’ve done the hard work for you.

In this article, we’ll take you through a range of activities to make your life fun and creative – like it was in childhood but with an adult twist!

Games and activities for a fun life

If you’re stuck in a rut, we’ll talk about 10 activities you can try ranging from playing in a casino online to arranging a Zoom quiz with friends. Here’s what we’ll cover

  1. Visit a casino (or playing online casino games)
  2. Book a tennis or badminton court
  3. Learn a new skill
  4. Re-watch a childhood favourite movie
  5. Put on some tunes from your younger days
  6. Watch funny videos
  7. Watch a TED talk
  8. Play some board games
  9. Create a scavenger hunt for your friends
  10. Arrange a Zoom quiz

Let’s look at each of these in more detail:

#1 Visit a casino (or playing online casino games)

Casinos have three main elements that make them so enjoyable. They combine fun, socialisation, and lucrative games. Everyone loves money and playing games, don’t they? So, why not combine the two.

If you’re not into socialising or prefer playing games alone, you can also gamble using online casinos too. Lots of them nowadays even have live casino games that you can play in real time with real money.

#2 Book a tennis or badminton court

If you’ve got a competitive edge and want a little competition, why not hire a tennis or badminton court, and have a little match (or tournament) with friends?

Most people probably know the rules of the game and if you don’t, YouTube has some excellent tutorials! You’ll be able to know the rules in a matter of minutes.

Once you’ve reminded yourself of the rules, see how much fun you can have!

#3 Learn a new skill

Learning a new skill is not only fun but it can also help in other areas of your life. If you find yourself endlessly scrolling social media of an evening, or binge-watching TV shows, learning a new skill can help you use the time better.

So, what new skills could you learn? This depends on your interests. If you already play one musical instrument, you might find it interesting and easy to pick up another. If you already knit, crochet might interest you. However, it really doesn’t matter what the new skill is – as long as you’re having fun doing it and learning something.

#4 Re-watch a childhood favourite movie

Sometimes, we just need an easy fun activity to pass the time. Think about films you used to watch in your younger days that you haven’t seen for years. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Disney classic or a cult movie, re-watching something at an older age can help remind you of ‘the good old days’ and it can also add a new perspective to the film that you’d never seen or thought of before.

#5 Put on some tunes from your younger days

Sometimes, we just need an easy fun activity to pass the time. Think about films you used to watch in your younger days that you haven’t seen for years. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Disney classic or a cult movie, re-watching something at an older age can help remind you of ‘the good old days’ and it can also add a new perspective to the film that you’d never seen or thought of before.

#5 Put on some tunes from your younger days

There’s nothing better than listening to tunes to get you out of a rut. Childhood tunes that you know all the words to often bring back great memories. So, make yourself a playlist grab your pretend microphone and sing and dance to your heart’s content.

#6 Watch funny videos

It’s easy to do, takes no preparation at all and doesn’t require a lot of attention. Watching funny videos is great for anyone who isn’t able to be as active but wants to try a different, fun activity. It doesn’t matter whether it’s clips of funny cats or old-fashioned comedy stand-ups – whatever makes you laugh.

#7 Watch a TED talk

TED talks are talks by experts on topics of interest – and you can find them on all sorts of topics, including Why can parrots talk and The real reason you feel so busy (and what to do about it).

It doesn’t really matter what you decide to watch, just watching a TED talk is always inspiring and thought-provoking. It’s much more fun that scrolling Facebook to see what your school friends from twenty years ago have eaten for their dinner!

#8 Play some board games

Playing board games is simply good old fashioned fun! It doesn’t matter if it’s a traditional one like Monopoly or Cluedo or a modern cooperative game like Pandemic.  The latter was released in 2008 but feels relevant since Covid-19!

#9 Create a scavenger hunt for your friends

Another good old-fashioned activity that will get your heart rate going and the endorphins flowing.

There are loads of different ideas for scavenger hunts. Here are some ideas:

  • Office scavenger hunt (people can take photos of the items on their phone)
  • GPS scavenger hunt (with people travelling between locations and finding things)
  • Photo scavenger hunt (with photos of people from their childhood)
  • Nature scavenger hunts (with a tick list of items to find and photograph or bring)

#10 Arrange a Zoom quiz

Ok, so we were all a little bit ‘Zoom-quizzed-out’ back in 2020, but two years on, it might be a good time to recreate the fun you had in those early pandemic days! Grab yourself a few drinks and snacks, write down 20 questions and invite some people. A simple, fun activity that is social but without much effort at all.

Final thoughts on games and activities to make your life fun and creative

This list isn’t by any means exhaustive – it could serve as an inspiration for your own ideas if nothing takes your fancy. Don’t fancy online casino games, how about online quizzes from the likes of Sporcle? Don’t fancy tennis or badminton, how about a game of five-a-side football? The opportunities are endless. So, write a list of all the things you enjoy (or used to enjoy in childhood) and go from there. Have fun!
